Aviation Crisis to Continue: IndiGo Says 3 More Days Needed!

Update: 2025-12-07 12:53 GMT

The crisis that has been continuing in the country’s aviation sector for the past six days is clearly expected to remain for a few more days. IndiGo Airlines, which is the main reason behind this problem, has stated that it will definitely take at least another three days for the situation to settle. Initially, the airline thought that services would take time between December 10 and 15 to stabilize… but now it has gained confidence that it can stabilize operations by December 10 itself, IndiGo Airlines said in a statement released on Sunday. It said that on December 7 — this Sunday — it operated a total of 1,650 flights, while this number was 1,500 on Saturday. It also mentioned that on-time operations had improved from 30 percent to 75 percent. At the same time, the airline stated in its announcement that the process of issuing refunds and returning luggage related to canceled flights is also progressing rapidly.

IndiGo released as many as three statements on Sunday regarding the latest situation. To resolve this situation, the IndiGo Airlines board has decided to immediately set up a Crisis Management Group (CMG). This group will continuously conduct reviews and provide reports to the management, it said. Widespread criticism is being heard that the negligence of IndiGo Airlines' management is the reason for such a massive problem arising suddenly, something unprecedented in the past. On the other hand, there is also discussion that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Civil Aviation Ministry — which should have examined whether IndiGo, the country’s largest airline, was prepared in time regarding the Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) regulations — did not act responsibly at all.
