Family Trust Linked to Ruling Party Eyes NRI Hospital Control!

Update: 2026-03-29 07:18 GMT

Is the NRI Hospital located in Chinakakani, Andhra Pradesh, set to change hands? Indications strongly suggest yes. The hospital has been embroiled in controversies for the past few years, and highly reliable sources reveal that a family trust linked to a party currently in power in Andhra Pradesh is working to take full control of it. A key point to note is that during the tenure of former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, a major company with a strong national presence made serious efforts to acquire this hospital. However, many of the hospital’s directors firmly resisted those attempts at the time. Even though representatives of that company still hold stakes in the hospital, it is now being reported that the company’s top leadership is willing to transfer those shares to the family trust linked to the ruling party.

It is widely believed that there have long been strong business ties between senior figures in the Andhra Pradesh government and the head of this company. The same company has reportedly been awarded contracts worth thousands of crores by the current government. In simple terms, the Andhra Pradesh government is said to be ready to grant whatever the company seeks. As a result, according to TDP sources, the company is now prepared to transfer its stake in the hospital as per the wishes of those in power. This development has led to comments that the relationship between the company and the ruling establishment has become deeply intertwined. A senior minister remarked that if leaders in the government are now moving to transfer a controversial hospital directly to their own family trust, it reflects how far they are willing to go. The transfer process is expected to be completed soon, with rapid developments underway. At present, the institution is under the control of an administrator.

As per the plan, an Extraordinary General Body Meeting of the society will be held before April 30, 2026, to elect a new governing body. However, the meeting is likely to take place on April 5. Around 30 members of the society will be informed through email, WhatsApp, and direct communication, along with the meeting agenda. The meeting will be conducted at the NRI Hospital conference hall in Chinakakani, Mangalagiri mandal, with provisions for members to attend both in person and through a hybrid mode. To ensure the process remains smooth and free of disputes, all necessary arrangements will be made, including video recording of the proceedings.

The elections will be held for key posts such as President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. No other agenda will be taken up during this meeting. After the completion of the elections, the administrator is required to hand over full responsibilities of the society to the newly elected committee by May 31, 2026. From then on, both the hospital and the medical college will come under the control of the new committee. The legally eligible members of the NRI Academy of Sciences include several doctors and individuals such as Dr. Upendranath Nimmagadda, Dr. Mani Akkineni, Dr. Ramakrishna Pinnamaneni, Dr. Buchaiah Kondragunta, Dr. Basaveswara Rao Yelamanchili, Dr. Jitendra Katineni, Dr. Krishna Prasad Surapaneni, Dr. Raghavarao Polavarapu, Dr. Pratap Arvapalli, Dr. Subrahmanyam Naidu K, Dr. Raju N. Manthena, Dr. Surendra B. Avula, Dr. Krishna Kumar Gannamaneni, Dr. Sumathi Mukkamala, Madhavi Nimmagadda, Roopa Akkineni, Prasad B.R. Neerukonda, Somu Krishna Murthy, Dr. Koneru Sridhar, Arjuna Lenke, Murali Krishna, Kudravalli, Bapireddy K, P. Sudharani, Manjali P. Reddy, P. Megha Reddy, Dr. Chekka Pedda Subbaiah, Tirupatirao Nadipineni, and Srinivas Reddy B. TDP sources also claim that shares belonging to a power broker, who currently wields influence across two ruling parties, were earlier acquired by a contracting firm during the tenure of Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
