Balayya–Boyapati’s Akhanda 2 Roars: A One-Man Show

Update: 2025-12-12 01:11 GMT

Not one… not two… already three films have come out in this combination. All three of them were super hits at the box office. Now the fourth film has arrived. One can imagine the kind of expectations a film like that would carry. It is known that Simha, Legend, and Akhanda, which came in the combination of Nandamuri Balakrishna and Boyapati Srinu, created a storm at the box office. Now, Akhanda 2 Tandavam has arrived before the audience in the same combination. Originally, this film was announced for release on September 25. Due to various reasons, it was postponed to December 5. But unexpectedly, the movie—scheduled to release on December 5—was halted, as everyone knows. Overcoming all obstacles, the film finally arrived before the audience in both Telugu states with premieres on the night of December 11.

The story of Akhanda 2 revolves entirely around God and beliefs. To harm India, the enemy first tries to destroy the faith Indians strongly hold in their deity. For this, some selfish political leaders in the country join hands with enemy nations. Together, they devise various plans. As part of their master plan, they target the Maha Kumbh Mela to implement their intentions. The battle fought by Akhanda to stop the plan made by political leaders along with foreign enemies is the core of Akhanda 2 Tandavam. Just like in Part 1, Balakrishna appears in dual roles once again. The film predominantly revolves around the powerful Akhanda, who is possessed by Lord Shiva. The real Akhanda Tandavam begins in the second half. In one word, Akhanda 2 Tandavam is a Balakrishna one-man show.

Although the film features a huge star cast, the entire story revolves mainly around Balakrishna, Kabir Duhan Singh, Sarvadaman Banerjee, Swastik Chatterjee, and Aadhi Pinisetty. Though Aadhi Pinisetty appears only in the second half in the role of Netra, the character leaves a strong impact throughout the film. The major strength of Akhanda 2 lies in Balakrishna’s performance in the Aghora role along with powerful dialogues. At certain points, the film includes a political touch and attempts to connect with Andhra Pradesh politics. The entire film revolves mostly around Hindu dharma and Sanatana dharma. It is clearly visible that there has been no compromise in locations or taking. Overall, Akhanda 2, which came in the Nandamuri Balakrishna–Boyapati Srinu combination, gives a feeling similar to fluctuating power levels—at times taking the audience to a high and at times dropping them down.

The entire second half runs at peak pace. Mother sentiment, sharp dialogues, and Balakrishna’s tandavam are the main strengths of the film. Since this is Balakrishna’s first pan-India film, the whole movie seems to revolve around Sanatana Dharma and Hindu Dharma. It remains to be seen what kind of entry Balakrishna gets into the Hindi market with Akhanda 2. In the success of Akhanda, along with Balakrishna’s performance, everyone knows how crucial Thaman’s background music was. However, speaking about Akhanda 2, although Thaman’s background score is good, compared to the first part, one gets a feeling that the energy has reduced.
