Trump stated that these were among the most powerful attacks in the history of the Middle East, but added that the oil infrastructure on Kharg Island had not been targeted. He warned Iran that any attempt to block the Strait of Hormuz, which is crucial for the movement of commercial ships, would not be tolerated. He said that if Iran obstructs the free movement of ships through the strait, they would consider targeting the oil infrastructure on Kharg Island. Around 90 percent of Iran’s exported oil is supplied from Kharg Island. Iran reacted strongly to the attacks carried out by U.S. Central Command on Kharg Island. Iran’s military headquarters warned that if attacks are carried out on its energy facilities, it would destroy the oil and energy infrastructure belonging to companies that are assisting the United States.

Trump said that the weapons systems they possess are extremely powerful and that Iran does not have the capability to protect the targets they choose.
