A series of tragic incidents in some of the world's leading tourist destinations has raised serious concerns. It is well known that 15 people from the Telugu states lost their lives in the recent boat accident in Vietnam. Over the past few years, the number of tourists travelling from the Telugu states to Vietnam has increased significantly. In particular, the availability of direct flights from Hyderabad and the country's popular tourist attractions have drawn a large number of visitors. Even before the Vietnam boat tragedy has faded from memory, another major accident has now occurred at a bar in Bangkok, Thailand, a popular tourist destination. As many as 27 people were killed and 63 others were injured in the fire. Officials said the death toll could rise further. The tragic incident took place on Sunday night.
The fire broke out at around 11:57 p.m. on Sunday at the "Rong Beer Na Ladprao" pub in Bangkok's Chatuchak area while a live band was performing. Smoke was first noticed near the stage. Moments later, the pub was plunged into darkness after a power outage, causing panic among the patrons. Within seconds, a massive explosion occurred, and flames spread rapidly from the front of the stage. Authorities believe that the materials used for the pub's interior decoration allowed the fire to spread quickly through the ceiling, engulfing the entire establishment and resulting in a high number of casualties. Stalls and tables had reportedly been placed near the pub's emergency exits, blocking escape routes for customers who had come to enjoy the evening.
Due to the thick smoke and darkness, many people ran towards the restrooms at the rear of the pub in an attempt to save themselves. However, as there were no emergency exits in that area, many of them suffocated to death inside the bathrooms. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. Thailand's Prime Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, visited the accident site. According to reports, the Prime Minister has ordered a comprehensive forensic investigation to determine whether the pub had complied with all mandatory safety regulations.
