Another prestigious project has been unveiled in Dubai — the world’s first air taxi station. It has been developed adjacent to Dubai International Airport. Passengers landing at the airport who wish to continue their journey by air taxi can head to this nearby station and quickly travel to their desired destination. A trip that would typically take around 45 minutes by road can be completed in just about 10 minutes using an air taxi. The service will connect key areas of Dubai, including Downtown Dubai, Palm Jumeirah, and Dubai Marina. The air taxi station has been developed to handle around 170,000 passengers annually.

On Friday, Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum visited the station along with officials from various departments and reviewed the facilities. Low-cost flying taxis will also be permitted to operate from this vertiport. After inspecting the project, Sheikh Hamdan stated that this marks another step forward in future mobility. He added that along with metro and bus services, smart and air mobility options are being introduced to offer new travel possibilities for passengers. Each air taxi will be capable of carrying up to four passengers to their destination. Commercial air taxi services are expected to begin in Dubai later this year. Passengers will be able to book these air taxis through Uber Black. These air taxis are designed to take off and land vertically.
