Ramayana is one of the biggest films set to hit theatres this year. It is widely reported that the movie is being made on a massive budget of around ₹4,000 crore. The film will be released in two parts, with Ranbir Kapoor playing Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi portraying Sita. The film had faced widespread criticism when some of its content was revealed earlier. However, the recently released trailer has raised expectations for the project. Yash, who plays Ravana, has particularly impressed audiences with his appearance in the trailer. At the same time, Sai Pallavi has come under heavy criticism for her portrayal of Sita. Many social media users have posted that she is not the right choice for the role. Overall, the Ramayana trailer has kept hopes alive for the film.
The film's team officially announced on Thursday that Ramayana will release in theatres on November 6. Earlier, the makers had said the film would be released during Diwali but had not announced an exact release date. The date has now been officially confirmed. The film is directed by Nitesh Tiwari. Meanwhile, the film has also become embroiled in controversy. Arjun Kumar, President of Delhi's Shri Ram Leela Mahasangh, warned that any distortion of Lord Rama's story would not be tolerated under any circumstances. He also demanded that the organisation be allowed to watch the film before its theatrical release. Failing that, he warned, the makers would have to face protests.
