Actor Suriya has already scored two hits at the box office this year. One of them is Veerabhadrudu, while the second is Viswanath & Sons. Both films have managed to earn good collections. This Friday, Suriya's third film of the year, Scene, was released worldwide. Director Jeethu Madhavan has made Scene as an action-comedy film. He has chosen a crime story revolving around serial killers, a subject that has already been explored in several films. However, it appears that the director has relied more on comedy than on crime investigation in this film. Suriya plays a police officer who investigates the crimes committed by serial killers. He regularly solves cases with ease using his intelligence and has earned a good reputation within the department. However, one day, the hero suddenly informs his boss that he is resigning from his job. Why does he decide to quit when the cases are at a crucial stage? What is the actual reason behind his decision? This forms the story of the film.
Watching Scene is sure to remind Telugu audiences of Raja The Great, directed by Anil Ravipudi and starring Ravi Teja. The reason is that Suriya's character in this film is also a visually impaired police officer. Even after resigning from his job, he continues trying to solve the cases while staying at home. He appoints actress Nazriya Nazim as his assistant, saying that she will act as his eyes. In the process, the two also fall in love. Suriya impresses with his performance as a visually impaired police officer in this film. However, compared to Raja The Great, there is a feeling that something is missing in terms of energy and excitement. Nevertheless, the director tries to keep audiences engaged through comedy for most of the film.
In a departure from his usual roles, Naslen appears as the villain in this film. He impresses in the climax sequences as a serial killer. Naslen, who has so far played mostly cheerful young characters, surprises audiences by taking on a villain's role for the first time. Nazriya not only impresses with her performance but also excels in the action sequences in the first half. Suriya's hairstyle is particularly different in this film, and he impresses with various expressions as part of his character. Actor Lal's role in Scene also provides entertainment to audiences. Overall, it can be said that Suriya narrowly misses scoring a hat-trick of super hits with Scene. The main reason is that the film turns out to be just a time-pass entertainer.
