BRS is currently in a state of tension. As is known, the PC Ghose Commission, appointed by the government to investigate irregularities in the Kaleshwaram Project, recently issued notices to BRS chief and former Chief Minister KCR. The commission asked him to appear before it on June 5. Along with former CM KCR, notices were also served to former Irrigation Minister Harish Rao and former Finance Minister Etela Rajender. While this development is already causing a stir within the BRS, a six-page letter written by KCR’s daughter and MLC Kavitha to her father, which came to light on Thursday, has now become a hot topic in Telangana politics.
For the past few days, the way MLC Kavitha has been speaking has also become a subject of intense discussion within her own party. Her recent comments stating that social justice had not been achieved in the past ten years created a huge uproar. In a way, these remarks were strong criticisms directed at her father's administration. At a time when reports are emerging that the responsibility of leading BRS may be handed over to former minister and current party working president KTR, Kavitha seems to have changed her tone.
On the other hand, former minister and senior leader Harish Rao also made a statement that if KCR hands over responsibilities to KTR, he would welcome it — a notable shift from his previous stance. Until then, Harish Rao had maintained that as long as KCR was around, there was no leadership issue, and he was their leader. His sudden change in stance has fueled speculation that something is indeed going on within the party. In this context, Kavitha's letter coming to light has further intensified the situation.
In her letter, Kavitha raised several key issues. The main points include:
"Party leaders are not being given access.
No clarity was given at the Silver Jubilee meeting regarding the alliance with BJP.
Only two minutes were spent talking about the BJP — there should have been a stronger criticism.
Speculation has begun that BRS might ally with the BJP.
BJP should have been targeted more.
At the grassroots level, there is a loss of faith in the Congress.
Our cadre is saying that BJP is becoming the alternative.
By not contesting the MLC elections, a message was conveyed that we supported BJP — the Congress has strongly capitalized on this.
ZPTC, ZP chairmen, and MLA-level leaders are complaining about lack of access to KCR, citing 'selective access.'
Efforts should be made to be more accessible to everyone.
In the Warangal meeting, movement leaders were not given due recognition.
It would have been better to allow those who have been with you since 2001 to speak.
Reassigning responsibilities to old in-charges has not gone well with the cadre.
Those wanting to contest local elections should receive B-Forms directly from the party office.
The Warangal meeting did not include discussion on the Waqf Bill, SC classification, or the 42% reservation issue for BCs.
Even though the Warangal meeting was a success, it would have been better to focus on these issues as well."
Kavitha's letter has gained more significance as it emerged while she is currently in the United States. In the Warangal meeting, only the photos of party chief KCR and KTR were displayed on the stage, while Harish Rao and Kavitha were ignored — an incident that has since become a hot topic within the party. However, some party leaders are raising the question — why is Kavitha bringing up all these issues only now? It is well known that even during their time in power, KCR was criticized for not giving appointments even to ministers, let alone MLAs.
