Hero Vishwak Sen pinned high hopes on the funky movie directed by Anudeep after his recent films failed at the box office. The teaser and trailer of this film also raised some curiosity among the audience about Funky. Starring Vishwak Sen and Kayadu Lohar as the lead pair, the movie was released before the audience on Friday. The film unit had already clarified that there is not much of a story in it and that it was made only with the aim of making the audience laugh. Since the production house Sithara Entertainments, which delivered a good hit like “Anaganaga Oka Raju” for Sankranti, produced this movie, audiences expected it to offer complete entertainment. However, it must be said that the movie failed to impress the audience to the expected level.
The entire Funky film revolves around the process of filmmaking as part of its story. In this, hero Vishwak Sen plays the director of the movie Funky. He promises to complete the film with a budget of four crores but increases the budget to forty crores. Due to the mounting pressure, producer Naresh collapses. Later, he attempts a stunt. As a result, Naresh’s daughter, played by Kayadu Lohar, steps in to ensure that the remaining film is completed somehow with a budget of one crore rupees. What happens from there forms the rest of the movie Funky. In this film, hero Vishwak Sen impresses as a director who shows no emotions. Heroine Kayadu Lohar also impresses with a key role in the movie and stands out as a special attraction with her looks.
Although it was announced that the movie was made entirely with the aim of making the audience laugh, the comedy did not fully work out. Vishwak Sen impressed with his style of comedy timing and did full justice to his role by showing variations according to the situations faced by his character. Sampath appears in another key role in Funky. Producers Naga Vamsi and Dil Raju, and directors Harish Shankar, Anudeep, and Kalyan Shankar appear in cameo roles in the movie. Though there was no compromise in production values, since the comedy did not work out fully, Funky remains only a time-pass movie.
