This coming Sankranti, the competition at the Tollywood box office is going to turn exciting. Every year, it is natural for major hero films to clash during Sankranti. However, this time it has become more interesting as pan-India star Prabhas’ film Raja Saab is set to enter the Sankranti race. In fact, this film was originally scheduled to release on December 5 this year. But now, the movie will be released worldwide on January 9, 2026. This was officially announced by the film’s producer T.G. Vishwa Prasad. Speaking at the trailer launch press meet of Mirai on Thursday, he revealed this date. With this, the release of Raja Saab has once again been postponed. Directed by Maruthi, the film features Nidhhi Agerwal and Malavika Mohanan alongside Prabhas. It is already known that Megastar Chiranjeevi’s film Mana Shankaravaraprasad Garu will also be in the Sankranti race. Directed by Anil Ravipudi, the movie recently announced its title and Sankranti release plan, though the exact date was not mentioned. This confirms that at the box office during the upcoming Sankranti, it will be Prabhas vs. Chiranjeevi.
Not just these two films, but Naveen Polishetty’s movie Anaganaga Oka Raju is also scheduled to release during Sankranti next year, on January 14. On Wednesday, coinciding with Vinayaka Chavithi, the release date was announced. Produced by Sithara Entertainments, the film stars Meenakshi Chaudhary opposite Naveen Polishetty. So, as of now, three films have officially announced their releases for Sankranti. Within Tollywood circles, there is discussion on how many more films might join the race by the festive season. Since two big films and one mid-range film are already in the lineup, some believe others may not dare to join. Now, it remains to be seen which of the three—Chiranjeevi’s, Prabhas’, or Naveen Polishetty’s—will shake the box office during the upcoming Sankranti.
