‘Raja Saab’ Premiere Plans Hit Roadblock in Telangana

Update: 2026-01-08 16:13 GMT

A big shock for Prabhas fans. The Telangana government did not grant permission for the premieres of the film Raja Saab. At the same time, it also said no to an increase in ticket rates. As a result, along with Prabhas fans, cinema lovers in general were left disappointed. Especially, fans had expected premieres to be held in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Except for Telangana, permission for Raja Saab premieres was granted in several other states. However, arrangements were made to screen premieres in selected theatres, along with media shows, at around 9:30 pm, following the old ticket rates.

It is known that the first Prabhas film of this Sankranti season is set to release worldwide on January 9. The film unit was ready to hold premieres a day earlier, on the night of January 8. Accordingly, they applied to the Telangana government, but did not receive approval. Both the Raja Saab film unit and Chiranjeevi’s film Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu units applied to the government and also approached the court seeking the cancellation of the single judge bench orders regarding ticket price hikes and premieres.

However, the court stated that these orders apply only to earlier films such as Pushpa 2, OG, and Akhanda 2, and directed the government to take a decision on these applications, effectively placing the matter in the government’s court. But the government did not take any decision on this issue. As a result, the film unit made last-minute arrangements for premieres at the old rates. On the other hand, the Andhra Pradesh government granted permission for a ticket price hike for Raja Saab, starring Prabhas. The ticket price for the January 8 premiere show was fixed at Rs. 1,000. Permission was given to screen this special show at any time between 6 pm and midnight on Thursday. At the same time, orders were issued allowing an increase in ticket prices from January 9 for ten days — by Rs. 150 in single screens and Rs. 200 in multiplexes.
