The film Rangasthalam, starring Ram Charan and directed by Sukumar, is well known for the sensational success it achieved at the box office. Now, the same combination is coming together once again. Mythri Movie Makers, which produced Rangasthalam, is also producing this new film, tentatively titled RC 17. The pooja ceremony for the upcoming film was held in Hyderabad on Sunday, November 1. Megastar Chiranjeevi formally launched the film by giving the first clap. The film unit is yet to officially announce the details of the actress who will play the female lead opposite Ram Charan and the music director. Directors Buchi Babu, Gopichand Malineni, Harish Shankar and Vassishta, along with prominent producers Dil Raju and Suryadevara Naga Vamsi, among others, attended the RC 17 pooja ceremony.
After the success of Pushpa 2, starring Allu Arjun, director Sukumar is now working with Ram Charan, generating considerable interest in the upcoming film. It is well known that the two-part Pushpa franchise helped Allu Arjun establish a strong Pan-India image. Now, it remains to be seen what kind of film Sukumar will deliver with Ram Charan through RC 17 and whether the film will help Ram Charan build a strong Pan-India image as well. Although Ram Charan has already reached a Pan-India audience through RRR, in which he starred alongside NTR under the direction of S.S. Rajamouli, establishing the same image with a solo film has now become crucial. Ram Charan's latest film, Peddi, achieved good success at the box office. However, the film could not make a significant impact in the overseas and Hindi markets.
