Update: 2026-01-09 07:29 GMT

The movie Raja Saab arrived before audiences as the first release of the Sankranti festival season. Pan-India hero Prabhas, who over the past few years has built a new image by doing action films in line with his “Rebel Star” title, surprised not only his fans but everyone by suddenly changing genres and giving the green signal to Raja Saab under the direction of Maruthi. Raja Saab was released worldwide on Friday. The statements made by director Maruthi at the pre-release event and on several occasions raised expectations for the film. After many years, Prabhas is seen in a vintage look in this movie, which made fans place huge hopes on it. The entire story of the film revolves around Raja Saab setting out to search for his missing grandfather, as promised to his grandmother. Although Raja Saab’s grandmother has a habit of forgetting everything, she never forgets anything related to her husband.

How Raja Saab stops his grandfather, who is trying to acquire massive amounts of gold and property through tantric practices and is attempting rebirth, forms the core of the story. At one stage, how Raja Saab escapes from Kanakaraju, who even tries to kill his own wife and grandson using his occult powers, is what this movie is about. In this film, Zarina Wahab plays Raja Saab’s grandmother, while Sanjay Dutt appears as the grandfather, portraying a tantric with mystical powers. Most of the movie revolves around these three characters. After many years, Prabhas has done a film in a new genre, and it can be said that he appears exactly the way his fans wanted him to. In terms of looks and action, Prabhas impresses, and audiences get to see the old Prabhas in this movie. With Prabhas appearing in a new look and the presence of three heroines, there was a lot of excitement among many about how the film would turn out. However, it can be said that director Maruthi was not successful in sustaining this excitement.

Even though there is some novelty in the story, the first half of the movie moves very slowly. The pace picks up a bit in the second half. The highlight of the film is the climax sequences. As the audience had already heard the songs multiple times, they failed to make much impact in the film. Among the three heroines, Malavika Mohanan gets the most screen space, followed by Nidhhi Agerwal, while Riddhi Kumar’s role has no significant importance. In this movie, Samuthirakani, Boman Irani, Prabhas Sreenu, Sathya, VTV Ganesh, and Saptagiri appear in other key roles. The dull narrative is to some extent held together by the background music composed by Thaman. Although the genre is said to be horror comedy, there is neither much horror nor comedy in it. Apart from watching it for Prabhas’s new look, the other elements fail to impress much.
