Peddi Director Says Sorry! Janhvi Kapoor Role Triggers Huge Controversy

The film Peddi, starring Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor, is creating a storm at the box office. The movie's team officially announced that it has grossed ₹181 crore worldwide within just two days of its release. While Ram Charan's performance has received widespread appreciation from audiences across all sections, Janhvi Kapoor's character has drawn significant criticism. The portrayal of her role has become a hot topic of discussion on social media. Amid the ongoing debate, director Buchi Babu Sana responded to the criticism through a social media post. Stating that he has immense respect for women, the director issued an apology after facing criticism over the way Janhvi Kapoor's character, Achiyamma, was portrayed in the film. Many viewers felt that certain scenes involving the character were inappropriate and objectionable.

                                          In his statement, Buchi Babu said, "As a director, I always believe that a film should entertain audiences, inspire them, and remain a memorable experience. Cinema should never make anyone uncomfortable, hurt sentiments, or disrespect anyone. That has always been my approach." He acknowledged that the criticism regarding the heroine's character in Peddi had come to the team's attention and that they had taken it seriously. "I have always had immense respect for women, both on-screen and off-screen. It was never my intention to disrespect women or diminish their roles," he said. The director further added, "If any scenes in the film have hurt your sentiments, I sincerely apologize. After observing the discussions and feedback on social media, we have decided to make changes to the concerned scenes. A film progresses only because of the support and love of the audience."

                                     Buchi Babu emphasized that the bond between filmmakers and fans is what drives the film industry forward. He said filmmakers have a responsibility to keep audience emotions and expectations in mind while writing stories. He also noted that special care must be taken when dealing with sensitive subjects. "Every woman deserves respect, and we are committed to portraying women as strong individuals and telling stories that enhance their value. I thank everyone who shared their opinions about Peddi honestly and openly," he concluded.
