Trump Says US Troops Stay Near Iran Until Full Compliance Achieved

Despite the announcement of a two-week ceasefire in the ongoing war between the United States–Israel alliance and Iran, tensions continue to run high in West Asia. Israel is being seen as a key reason for the continuing unrest. At the same time, US President Donald Trump has been making provocative statements. He announced that countries supplying weapons to Iran would face 50 percent tariffs. Notably, Trump made these remarks shortly after the ceasefire announcement, further escalating concerns. Meanwhile, Israel has been carrying out intense attacks on Lebanon. On Wednesday, within a span of just ten minutes, large-scale strikes reportedly killed more than 115 civilians. These attacks have continued into Thursday as well. On the other hand, Iran has warned that Lebanon is also part of the ceasefire agreement and has threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz again if the situation continues. However, both the United States and Israel maintain that Lebanon is not included in the ceasefire deal. As Israel continues its attacks on Lebanon over the past two days, Tehran has also launched retaliatory strikes against Israel. This has raised fears among several countries that the situation could spiral back to square one.

An important point here is that Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who has claimed to have played a key role in the ceasefire process, officially stated that the ceasefire would extend to Lebanon as well. However, Israel’s continued strikes on Lebanon contradict this claim. US President Donald Trump also made key remarks regarding the ceasefire agreement. He stated that American military forces would remain in the region until Iran fully complies with the terms of the agreement. He reiterated that the United States would not allow Iran to possess nuclear weapons under any circumstances. Although a two-week ceasefire agreement has been reached between Iran and the United States, Trump clarified that American warships, aircraft, troops, and weapons would continue to remain in areas surrounding Iran.

He emphasized that US forces would not withdraw until a comprehensive agreement to end the war is fully implemented. He also warned that if Iran fails to honor the agreement, the US would respond with unprecedented force. Trump stressed that the Strait of Hormuz must remain secure and that maritime navigation should continue without disruption. He added that until a final agreement is reached, US forces will remain stationed in the region, resting but ready for their next mission. With both the United States and Iran issuing conflicting statements, there is growing perception that the situation has become increasingly confusing and uncertain.
