Gold Prices Falling Now, But a Big Rally May Be Ahead!

Gold prices have been declining over the past few days. However, many believe that this is only a temporary trend. Estimates suggest that gold prices could rise by as much as 40 percent by the end of 2026. Several leading international institutions have expressed similar views. According to a forecast by JPMorgan Chase Global Research, the price of 10 grams of gold in India could reach ₹2.13 lakh by the end of this year. Earlier, several other institutions had also released projections along similar lines. JPMorgan Chase stated that the price of gold could reach $6,000 per ounce during the last three months of 2026 and rise further to $6,300 per ounce by the end of 2027. One ounce of gold is equivalent to 28.34 grams. However, some analysts believe that the price of 10 grams of gold may stabilize between ₹1.30 lakh and ₹1.50 lakh during this year.
With the end of the war being waged by the United States against Iran, gold prices have been falling over the past few days. Even if this trend continues for a few more days, experts believe that prices are more likely to move higher by the end of the year. A few days ago, the Central government increased the import duty on gold from 6 percent to 15 percent in an effort to protect foreign exchange reserves. The move appears to have yielded results, as gold imports have declined by nearly 70 percent over the past month. Before the duty hike, monthly gold imports ranged between 75 and 100 tonnes. After the increase, imports dropped sharply to around 25 to 30 tonnes per month. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also called for a temporary halt to gold purchases, a move that has drawn attention in recent weeks.
