Fly Dubai Flight Panic: Pilots Fight, Hijack Code 7500 Triggers Alert

Chaos broke out on a Flydubai flight. Not only did the two pilots reportedly fight inside the cockpit, but the transmission of hijack signals from the aircraft also triggered panic among everyone. Initially, the aircraft transmitted Squawk 7700, a code used during emergencies. Shortly afterwards, it transmitted code 7500, which indicates unlawful interference or a hijacking attempt. Reports emerged that the co-pilot on the flight attacked the pilot with a knife. The incident occurred while the Flydubai flight was heading to Tel Aviv, one of Israel’s key cities. As the signals were received shortly after the aircraft took off, Israel was also immediately put on alert. At a time when the situation in West Asia remains highly tense, an investigation is now underway into the reasons behind the incident. However, the aircraft, carrying 180 passengers, was safely landed in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.

During the altercation between the two pilots, the aircraft suddenly descended rapidly by thousands of feet, reportedly causing injuries to some passengers. According to reports that have emerged, one of the pilots allegedly attempted to commit suicide and also tried to crash the aircraft. The crew, passengers and the other pilot were able to successfully prevent this. As a result, a major disaster was averted. Following the emergency messages received from Flydubai, Israel scrambled its fighter jets.

The development prompted Israel’s security apparatus to go on heightened alert. While authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, questions over why the emergency codes were transmitted and what exactly was behind them have now become a subject of discussion. Israeli media reported that following the incident, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz held an emergency security meeting. Israeli officials allege that the Omani pilot was involved in a terrorist plot to crash the aircraft.
