Pentagon Drops Anthropic, Picks OpenAI

Anthropic. This name is now causing concern among IT employees across the world. Not only that, it is also the reason behind the sharp fall in the shares of key IT companies in the Indian stock market. This American artificial intelligence company is currently creating a tsunami in the IT sector. It is well known that reports say large-scale job losses will occur in the IT sector due to the AI tools being introduced by Anthropic. The impact is already clearly visible. Experts in the sector estimate that this may intensify further in the coming days. On the other hand, IT company shares in the domestic market are collapsing because of concerns that the tools introduced by this company will reduce orders for domestic IT firms and impact their revenues. It is being said that it will take some time to get clarity on the extent of this impact. At a time when Anthropic is creating turmoil in the IT sector, US President Donald Trump has given a shock to the company. Citing that it did not agree to their demands, he has now ordered that the US government will no longer do any business with this company and has also directed those who have already entered into contracts to come out of them.
He recently ordered all government departments to immediately stop using Anthropic’s Claude AI technology. Trump took this decision after Anthropic refused to completely remove the safety regulations in Claude related to surveillance and military affairs. However, the US Department of Defense has been given six months’ time. On this occasion, Trump made sharp remarks on social media. He said that a company with leftist ideology cannot dictate what the US government should or should not do. He criticized Anthropic, saying it committed a major mistake by trying to subdue America. He alleged that the company attempted to make America abide by its rules. He said that because of its selfish motives, the lives of American citizens were put at risk. He also alleged that national security was endangered. He criticized that a radical leftist company cannot decide the future of the country. Recently, the US had asked Anthropic to completely remove the safety rules in Claude technology related to government surveillance and automatic weapons.
It had asked the company to make changes so that AI could be fully utilized in these areas. However, Anthropic did not agree to this. The company clearly stated that it cannot violate ethical guidelines related to unlimited AI usage in surveillance and military matters. The company’s CEO Dario Amodei clarified on Thursday that the decision was taken according to its conscience. In this context, the US Department of Defense set a 24-hour deadline for Anthropic to relax the regulations. As the deadline was set to expire within an hour on Friday, Trump issued key orders. He directed all government departments to immediately stop using Anthropic’s Claude technology. Not only that, after announcing that he was saying goodbye to the company, Donald Trump entered into an agreement with its rival OpenAI. The Pentagon recently signed an agreement with this company. This was revealed by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
