From War Warning to Peace Move: Trump Grants Iran 2-Week Deadline

In the age of Artificial Intelligence, U.S. President Donald Trump—who spoke about the Stone Age—unexpectedly backed down on the Iran issue in a manner no one anticipated. Despite warning that Iran’s civilization could be wiped out overnight, he announced a ceasefire at the last minute. However, he clarified that this ceasefire would be from both sides. It is known that even before the deadline set by President Donald Trump for Iran had expired, Israel carried out large-scale attacks on Iran’s Kharg Island and its railway network on Tuesday. Trump, who had earlier warned that failure to reopen the Strait of Hormuz would have severe consequences, eventually announced a two-week extension for Iran. This decision reportedly came following proposals from Pakistan’s President Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir. A statement was also released indicating that all countries would implement the ceasefire, and that Iran had agreed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
With this temporary halt to an intense war, the entire world has breathed a sigh of relief. Many experts believe that a concrete solution will emerge within these two weeks and that a path toward lasting peace may be established. A key reason for this optimism is that the United States has reportedly agreed in principle to the ten conditions put forward by Iran, leading to expectations that upcoming discussions will yield a resolution. Iran has proposed that sanctions against it be lifted and that it be granted rights over the Strait of Hormuz. It also suggested that tolls collected from ships passing through the strait would be used for the country’s reconstruction. Reports indicate that Trump has agreed to this proposal as well.
An important point to note here is that even before this conflict, ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz did so free of charge. However, due to the war initiated under Donald Trump, vessels from various countries traveling through this route may now have to pay tolls amounting to millions. Despite the ceasefire between the two sides, Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei made a sensational statement that this does not mark the end of the war. He stated that their “fingers are still on the trigger” and warned that Iran would respond with full force to any aggression by enemy nations. He also revealed that all departments have been instructed to immediately implement the ceasefire. Reports suggest that discussions between the United States and Iran on the ten demands raised before the ceasefire may begin as early as Thursday.
