Is Revanth Reddy Under PM Modi’s Influence? Congress Leaders Raise Questions!
Several Congress leaders themselves are expressing doubts over the functioning of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. His recent remarks in Delhi have also become a major talking point within the party. While in Telangana, Revanth Reddy strongly targets Union Minister and BJP leader G. Kishan Reddy, in Delhi he has been saying that every issue should be resolved through discussions. At the same time, he has refrained from making any criticism of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Even after all preparations had reportedly been completed, Revanth Reddy alleged that the loan sanctioned by the Indian Railway Finance Corporation (IRFC) for the takeover of the Hyderabad Metro Phase-1 had been stalled. He blamed Union Minister Kishan Reddy, alleging that he was the main reason behind the delay and that he was preventing both the Phase-1 takeover and approvals for Phase-2 of the Hyderabad Metro. Later, however, the Chief Minister wrote to Kishan Reddy requesting him to arrange meetings with Union Ministers. Following those letters, meetings were held in Delhi with Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
After these meetings, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stated on social media that the discussions had been highly productive. He announced that SBI Caps would be entrusted with conducting a comprehensive study of the Hyderabad Metro issues and that the government would proceed based on its report. However, later, claiming that no progress had been made, the Chief Minister once again wrote to Kishan Reddy. Now, however, he is no longer raising the issue. Even though the Modi government at the Centre has not granted all the projects sought by the Telangana government, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has not made a single critical remark against Prime Minister Modi. This has led to several doubts among Congress leaders. Any state government maintaining cordial relations with the Centre and securing projects for the state would generally be considered a major achievement. However, questions are being raised over why Revanth Reddy continues to insist that issues can be resolved through dialogue rather than criticism, even though the Modi government has allegedly not extended adequate support to Telangana. Many are questioning the agenda behind this approach.
Another important issue concerns the alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram Project. For some time, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has repeatedly alleged that the Central government is not granting permission for a CBI investigation into the project. He questioned why BJP leaders, who had earlier described the Kaleshwaram Project as an "ATM," had not ordered a CBI probe despite being in power at the Centre. He also declared that, if necessary, he was prepared to stage a protest in Delhi demanding that the CBI investigation into the alleged irregularities in the Kaleshwaram Project be expedited. Subsequently, Revanth Reddy announced that he, along with Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, would personally meet the CBI Director in Delhi to urge the Centre to speed up the investigation. However, that announcement has not yet been implemented.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s approach towards the Kaleshwaram Project has raised doubts from the very beginning. It alleges that those accused of siphoning off thousands of crores of rupees in the project are now being given important positions in the government. It further claims that by excluding key corruption-related components from the inquiry commission appointed by the state government, Revanth Reddy has effectively protected those involved in the alleged irregularities. According to official sources cited in the article, this has become evident.
