Davos Appearance: Chiranjeevi’s Words Stir Telangana Politics!

It is well known that Chiranjeevi was once associated with the Congress party. When the Congress was in power at the Centre, he even served once as the Union Minister for Tourism. After the merger of Praja Rajyam, he was given a Rajya Sabha seat along with a Union Ministerial post. Later, he completely bid goodbye to politics and focused only on films. From Prime Minister Modi onwards, BJP leaders have been keeping their focus on Chiranjeevi whenever an opportunity arose. There were even occasions when Chiranjeevi was specially invited to events in Andhra Pradesh attended personally by Prime Minister Modi. All that is in the past. For some time now, the manner in which Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has been dealing with Chiranjeevi has become a topic of intense discussion among party leaders. It is known that a few days ago, the Telangana government grandly organized a global summit in Hyderabad’s Future City. The government invited Megastar Chiranjeevi to this event as well.

However, while speaking from the summit stage, Chiranjeevi said that CM Revanth Reddy had sent ministers Bhatti Vikramarka and Sridhar Babu to personally request him to attend the Global Summit at any cost. He added on the same stage that at that time, he was dancing with a girl at Annapurna Studios. He said that this felt somewhat awkward to him, but described it as a great summit and said “Telangana Rising” is a new initiative. He stated that he came with great happiness and recalled that CM Revanth Reddy had said two years ago that he wanted to make Hyderabad a global film hub. After seeing this summit, he said he gained confidence that the CM would achieve what he envisioned. However, strong criticism erupted at that time itself, questioning whether there was any need for Chiranjeevi to say on a public platform that the government had sent two ministers to invite him. Discussions then centered on the view that this was mainly about CM Revanth Reddy tarnishing the image of the Telangana government.

Now, a similar scene has been repeated. It is known that Telangana CM Revanth Reddy, along with ministers Sridhar Babu, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and others, is currently on a Davos tour. Chiranjeevi also participated in this summit, and related photographs were released. Chiranjeevi’s team also issued a statement in this regard, saying that while he was on a personal break in Zurich, Chiranjeevi attended the World Economic Forum 2026 at the invitation of Telangana CM Revanth Reddy. They said the CM gave him a warm welcome and that they witnessed the global unveiling of “Telangana Rising 2047.”. The statement further said that during discussions between the two, the CM mentioned that he watched the film Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu with his family and thoroughly enjoyed it. Discussions are now taking place about what exactly is the intention behind Chiranjeevi repeatedly stating that he attends such events only at the invitation of the CM, and whether through these remarks he is sending any signals to anyone. Congress leaders are also commenting that the way CM Revanth Reddy keeps inviting Chiranjeevi to every event, and the way Chiranjeevi keeps saying everywhere that he came only because the CM invited him and that he has no real interest in these matters, is not only tarnishing the image of CM Revanth Reddy but also damaging the image of the government.
