Property Dispute Rocks YS Family Again!
The property dispute within the YS family shows no signs of being resolved anytime soon. It is well known that over the past few years, serious differences have emerged between YSRCP chief and former Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and his sister Y. S. Sharmila regarding family assets. A key aspect of this dispute is that the late Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s wife, Y. S. Vijayamma, has chosen to support Sharmila instead of her son Jagan. Just two days ago, speaking to the media, Sharmila made sharp remarks, saying Jagan had brought disgrace to the very meaning of the word “brother.” She went as far as to say that if one has a brother like this, there is no need for enemies. She alleged that the murder of Viveka was entirely linked to the Kadapa MP ticket issue. According to her, Viveka himself had told her that Avinash was not suitable for the MP post. Despite this, she claimed, Jagan went ahead and gave the Kadapa MP ticket to Avinash Reddy. She also accused both the CBI and the BJP-led central government of doing injustice to Sunitha in the Viveka murder case.
In this backdrop, Vijayamma has now issued a notarized statement through her advocate regarding the property issue. In it, she made several key points. She clarified that all assets up until YSR’s death in 2009 were family properties, and that no formal division of assets had ever taken place. She stated that YSR’s intention—and his directive—was that all assets should be equally distributed among his four grandchildren. According to Vijayamma, this is a known fact among all close family members. She further stated that every asset mentioned in the MoU in favor of Sharmila rightfully belongs to her. She added that Jagan himself had signed another MoU acknowledging this. In fact, she said, Sharmila was allotted less than what she deserved, and even properties not included in the MoU—such as the Yelahanka land and Saraswati Cement—rightfully belong to Sharmila.
Vijayamma also clarified that the cash Jagan claims to have given was merely a dividend from Sharmila’s share. She accused Jagan of doing injustice to his niece and nephew in matters of property. She concluded emotionally, saying, “The truth is known to my God… and even to my son. Who are you to spread Goebbels-style propaganda? No matter what you say, God’s justice will prevail. As YSR’s wife, I fold my hands and request you to stop spreading falsehoods. Please do not repeatedly bring this issue into the media. I swear before God that everything I have stated here is the truth.”
