BRS Scams: Why Is Revanth Reddy Hesitating on Action?
X

Is the Congress party also using the BRS scams for its own advantage? Is that why Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who spoke in strong terms before the elections, is now hesitating to take action? The answer coming from leaders of the party appears to be yes. While in the opposition, the Congress repeatedly issued official statements with figures, detailing what happened during the ten-year BRS rule. They also spoke about it in public meetings. However, even after more than two years in power, the Revanth Reddy government has failed miserably to prove BRS guilty in even a single matter. This leads to only two possibilities: either all the allegations made by Revanth Reddy and his cabinet ministers against BRS were false, or the ruling party has reached a compromise with BRS without taking any action. Which of these has actually happened is something that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and his cabinet colleagues must now reveal.

In particular, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and the Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy have been repeatedly stating that works in the irrigation sector were carried out arbitrarily solely for the sake of commissions. If there is such solid evidence of commissions being taken, why is the Congress government letting key BRS leaders go without any action? This remains an unanswered question even for Congress leaders themselves. Moreover, the repeated comments made by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on corruption by BRS leaders are raising several doubts not only among the public but also within the Congress party. At times, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy says that God will take care of everything. But when he was in the opposition, the same Revanth Reddy had openly warned that once in power, they would make everyone confess and put them in Chanchalguda Jail.

There have long been criticisms that the investigation conducted by the Revanth Reddy government exposed its hollowness by excluding the most crucial motor and pump components from the scope of inquiry in the Kaleshwaram project, which was built at a cost exceeding one lakh crore rupees. Officials are also saying that all this was done as part of a well-planned strategy. On the other hand, the tragic situation is that while Revanth Reddy and other ministers, who once made large-scale corruption allegations against BRS, have now gone silent, BRS is relentlessly making corruption allegations against the Congress government. From the HILT policy to the Musi project, BRS is making serious accusations on every issue. Looking at the figures cited in BRS’s corruption allegations, many people feel that these are being made out of spite, as the amounts seem to be quoted as if any random figure that comes to mind is being stated by BRS leaders.

Even so, the fact that there has not been a single action taken regarding the ten years of alleged irregularities by BRS is becoming an embarrassment to the Congress government—this is a discussion taking place even within the Congress party. In another two years, the state will enter an election atmosphere. No political party carries out arrests just before elections, because politically it becomes very costly. Comments are being heard that if Chief Minister Revanth Reddy truly intended to take action against illegal activities and those involved in corruption, he would have properly planned and carried it out within the first two years itself. But Congress leaders themselves are saying that the Congress government is also using the BRS scams, and that is why there are only words and no action on these issues. If this continues, will anyone believe Revanth Reddy’s words by the time of the next elections? Are questions now being raised about whether Revanth Reddy, who claims that the Congress will remain in power for ten years, will seek votes by saying that all the irregularities during the BRS regime have been left to God?
