45-Day Ceasefire Proposal Emerges as US-Iran War Threat Grows

As Iran continues to remain unmoved, frustration appears to be reaching a peak for U.S. President Donald Trump. A recent example being widely discussed is his social media post on Truth, where he reportedly used harsh and inappropriate language while criticizing Iran. The tone and wording of his warning have shocked several global leaders. What is notable is that despite repeated serious warnings from Trump, Iran seems to be taking them lightly, as it has in the past. Even as the deadline set by Trump approaches, Iran has shown little concern. In response to Trump’s threats—such as targeting Iran’s power plants and bridges—Iran warned that it would deliver “surprises” to both the United States and Israel. Amid escalating tensions, the U.S. and Israel reportedly launched heavy strikes on Tehran early Monday morning. Several government buildings in Iran were targeted, and around 13 people are said to have lost their lives in the attacks.

In addition, missile strikes were also carried out on Sharif University of Technology. Iran made it clear that while the Strait of Hormuz would remain open, it would effectively be closed to its enemies. It also warned that any attacks targeting Iranian civilians would be met with severe retaliation. Iran’s central military has urged its citizens to remain alert, stating that no one—including the American public—can predict how Trump might act at any given time. At this critical juncture, a significant proposal has emerged. In an effort to bring an end to the conflict—which is impacting the global economy—international mediators have suggested a 45-day ceasefire between both sides. Countries like Egypt and Turkey are said to be playing key roles in these mediation efforts.

The proposal suggests that both sides first agree to the ceasefire and then engage in direct talks to find a permanent resolution. During these 45 days, neither side would carry out any attacks. Nations like Qatar and Oman are also reportedly playing important roles in facilitating the discussions, given their strong ties with both the U.S. and Iran. It is worth noting that President Trump has already extended the deadline given to Iran until Tuesday night at 8 PM, urging the country to make a decision within this timeframe. In this context, the emergence of a 45-day ceasefire proposal is significant. However, the key question remains: to what extent Iran will agree to this proposal.
