Singhvi Renominated, Vem Narender Reddy Gets RS Ticket

The candidates who will be in the fray for the Rajya Sabha from Telangana on behalf of the ruling Congress party have been finalized. The Congress high command has already decided to nominate Abhishek Manu Singhvi once again to the Rajya Sabha from the state. However, the question of who would be the second candidate became crucial. As the second candidate from Congress, the high command has finalized the name of Vem Narender Reddy, who is very close to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and is currently serving as an advisor to the CM. With this, it can be said that one seat has gone to the Congress high command and another seat to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Many leaders were in the race for the second seat. Various names came to the forefront based on different social equations. But setting all that aside, the Congress high command finalizing the candidature of Vem Narender Reddy, a person close to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, has gained significance.
In the past, there was propaganda that there was a significant gap between the Congress high command—especially Lok Sabha Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi—and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. However, in recent times, party leaders are of the opinion that everything seems to have been set right. It is being said that for this very reason, despite many being in the race, they sidelined everyone and gave the Rajya Sabha chance to Vem Narender Reddy. Another key point here is that Congress does not have the strength to get two candidates elected on its own. While Congress has 66 MLAs, including the CPI candidate, the strength is only 67. However, with the support of MLAs who defected from BRS into Congress, along with parties like MIM which are currently acting as allies of Congress, the party is working to secure the second seat. There is also discussion within Congress circles that the high command approved the name suggested by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for this reason. March 5 is the last date for filing nominations, and if elections become necessary, polling will be held on March 16.
