Calls for P4 Model Implementation to Support Loyal TDP Cadre

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu always says that he will change… he will change. But until now, that has never happened. This is also the firm opinion of the TDP party leaders. Another key point here is that when in the opposition, he says “the party workers are my life”… but once he comes to power, he immediately changes his course and completely forgets that matter. From the time he assumes office, there have been long-standing allegations that he does whatever the officials say, without thinking even a little from the party’s perspective. After coming to power, Chandrababu has admitted in every defeat that he neglected the party and said, “This time it will not happen.” But every time he wins, he forgets that, just like always. Even now, there is criticism that the same thing is happening. TDP chief and Chief Minister Chandrababu’s son, Minister Nara Lokesh, at the recent Mahanadu, even introduced a new catchy slogan: “The party worker is the leader.” But according to party leaders, it seems as if just saying “the party worker is the leader” is enough for them, and whether they care about the workers after that or not doesn’t matter to them.

Compared to other parties, TDP does provide some insurance benefits to a few party workers, and also offers other necessary assistance when needed. However, some leaders are of the opinion that in this term, after coming to power, Chandrababu should implement a policy in the party based on the repeatedly chanted “P4 model.” They point out that during the opposition period, many people worked behind the scenes in various ways to help TDP, but now such people have been completely ignored. There are many who worked for the party without expecting any benefit when TDP was in the opposition, but now, after coming to power, the party is reportedly ignoring them completely and instead relying on those who flourished during the YSRCP regime. Some leaders are now openly demanding that Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh first support those who worked for the party behind the scenes without expecting any benefit. A senior minister stated that there is no evidence of much attention being given to those who faced many hardships during Jagan’s regime. At the same time, he noted that there were many who worked behind the scenes for the party when it was in the opposition. Another senior leader expressed the opinion that if such people who worked sincerely for the party are supported either through the P4 model or another model, they will always be ready to work for the party whenever needed.

However, TDP leaders feel that Chandrababu always makes big promises during elections and completely forgets them once in power. They say there is a need to set up a mechanism for the back-end team. According to another leader, poverty eradication as claimed through Chandrababu’s P4 model is not possible, but if the P4 model scheme is implemented within the party, the team working for the party will remain solid and intact. Party circles say that most of those now being called “mentors” in P4 are people who have obtained large contracts or other projects from the Chandrababu government, and not people who genuinely work out of love for uplifting the poor, as Chandrababu claims. Even party leaders themselves comment that they are not driven by the compassion for the poor that Chandrababu talks about.
