SIT Notice: KCR Asks for New Date
X

BRS chief and former Chief Minister KCR has sought time to appear before the SIT for questioning in the telephone tapping case. It is known that the SIT on Thursday served notices at KCR’s Nandi Nagar residence in Hyderabad, asking him to be ready for questioning from 3 pm on January 30. Considering KCR’s age, the notice stated that the inquiry would be conducted at a place convenient to him, but that the investigating officer should be informed of this in advance. Responding to these notices, KCR requested some time. He cited municipal elections as the reason for this. He stated that he is currently busy with the municipal election nomination process. He said he would be ready for questioning if another date is fixed and informed to him.

Invoking Section 160 of the CrPC, KCR requested that the inquiry be conducted at his residence. Referring to the provision in law that persons above 65 years of age should not be called to a police station, KCR stated that his residence is in Erravalli village of Markook mandal in Siddipet district, and requested that the inquiry be conducted there. He also mentioned in his response that future notices should be sent to this residential address. In his letter, KCR stated that as a former Chief Minister and as the Leader of the Opposition, he would fully cooperate with the investigation. It is already known that SIT officials have questioned former ministers KTR and Harish Rao, as well as former MP Santosh Rao, in the telephone tapping case. Official sources say that once KCR is also questioned, the entire matter will reach a conclusion.
