Siddharth Luthra. A name that needs no introduction, because he is a senior advocate in the Supreme Court, the highest judicial body in the country. He appears in several key cases. Now, why are we discussing him? The Andhra Pradesh government has paid Siddharth Luthra ten lakh rupees per appearance, meaning ten lakh rupees for each day he appeared in court on behalf of the government. For however many days he appeared, the payment was ten lakh rupees per day. To this extent, the government issued two GOs on Monday. According to these, the government paid him a total of one crore fifteen lakh rupees for arguing cases in the High Court on behalf of the state government. Through GO 1768, ninety-three lakh fifty thousand rupees were paid, and through GO 1767, twenty-two lakh rupees were paid.

Comments are being heard expressing surprise as to why the government engaged such highly expensive lawyers, paying ten lakh rupees per day, even though there are many senior lawyers in the state along with the Advocate General. In the past, similar criticisms were made against the YSRCP government as well. Seeing all this, the opinion is being expressed that there is no change in the situation regardless of who is in power. In political circles, there is also talk that governments pay whatever amount these lawyers ask for while in power, and later, whenever political leaders face personal cases, they avail services from the same lawyers.
