Coal Purchase Scam Sparks Rift Between AP Ministers?!

Since the coalition government came to power in Andhra Pradesh, serious allegations have been surfacing that the Electricity Department has become a major source of income for some top leaders in the government. Reports suggest that massive sums are being collected by awarding new power projects and taking commissions in coal purchases. There are also accusations of collecting huge kickbacks through inflated prices in the procurement of electrical equipment. These whispers are heard across the government corridors — that hundreds of crores are being siphoned off through these deals. Compared to other states, Andhra Pradesh faces heavy criticism for paying inflated prices for both power contracts and equipment purchases. Although several media reports have highlighted these irregularities, everything remains hushed up — because everyone involved knows what’s happening, and no one dares to act. The main reason: the money from these illegal deals is allegedly reaching top political figures.
Now, a sensational development related to the Electricity Department has come to light, becoming a hot topic even within government circles. It is alleged that a team called the KIM Team, which is said to be very close to a key minister, has been collecting money on his behalf. This team is reportedly managing these collection operations from Delhi, Hyderabad, and Amaravati. Since all the department’s affairs are running under this minister’s supervision, things had been smooth so far without major controversies. However, reliable sources claim that a dispute has now arisen between two ministers over kickbacks related to coal purchases. One minister is said to behave as though he has control over all departments in the government, while the other is a senior official associated with the electricity sector. Reportedly, the second individual questioned why only the higher-ups were pocketing all the collections and demanded a share in the coal purchase deals, taking matters into his own hands.
During a recent visit to Delhi, the key minister reportedly presented the collection details to the so-called “controlling” minister. Shocked by what he saw, the controlling minister realized that half of the total proceeds went to the KIM Team working for the other minister — but the remaining half’s destination was unclear. He ordered an investigation to find out where the rest of the money went, bringing the issue to Amaravati’s attention. According to insiders, this “account dispute” has now created serious tension between the two ministers. It is being said that a senior officer has been handling the entire operation on behalf of the second minister. For instance, in this coal procurement case, about ₹100 crore allegedly went to the controlling minister, while a similar amount was collected separately by the other minister’s team without his knowledge. Officials believe that these collection details could become clearer in the coming days. Whether someone will be made a scapegoat over these discrepancies, or whether both ministers will quietly settle their differences, remains to be seen. For now, all eyes are on how this coal kickback controversy unfolds.
