From KCR to Revanth: Megha Engineering Still Gets Top Priority!

No matter which state it is or which government is in power, does one necessarily have to get so closely connected with that company? Why is it that even those who earlier made scathing criticisms are now forgetting everything and joining hands with that company? What is the magic behind this has now become a hot topic in Telangana as well. When Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was in the opposition, those whom he harshly abused are now being kept close to him. They may be contractors or IAS officers. This development is not going down well with some of his cabinet colleagues and Congress leaders either. But everyone is keeping quiet and going about their own work. The allegations made by Revanth Reddy against the Megha Engineering company when he was in the opposition were many. He not only targeted the company but also strongly criticized its head, Megha Krishna Reddy. He accused them of looting the state along with KCR. Cut to the present, even after the Congress party came to power in Telangana, there has been no change in the situation. In fact, there is a discussion among ministers that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, who had severely abused and heavily criticized Megha Engineering when he was in the opposition, is now ensuring that not even a fly touches the company.

There is also a discussion among party leaders that the main reason behind such a sudden change is deals that happened behind the scenes. That is why, they say, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and another minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, who had earlier openly named and criticized Megha, have suddenly gone silent. Now no one is even daring to take the company’s name. On Saturday, during a discussion on river water issues in the Assembly, AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, without naming the company, said that during the ten-year rule of the BRS, a single family and a single company benefited on a massive scale, and demanded an investigation into the entire matter. He said the same company mobilized huge funds in the form of electoral bonds. He added that the company did the same not only in the state but also at the Centre, and demanded that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy order an investigation into the entire issue. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy listened to all this with a smile but did not respond to the issue.

Another strange aspect here is that, following the path of BRS chief KCR, the present Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is also giving major importance to Megha Engineering company. Along with the Kodangal Lift Irrigation Project, even after the Revanth Reddy government came to power, this company has been allotted roads and several other projects worth thousands of crores of rupees. It was widely alleged that Revanth Reddy took the decision to keep the issue of motors and pumps related to the Kaleshwaram Project—which imposed a huge burden on Telangana—out of the purview of inquiry in order to protect Megha Engineering. It is not just in the matter of contracts. When he was in the opposition, Revanth Reddy also strongly criticized certain IAS officers. After coming to power, he is now facing allegations of appointing the same officers to key positions and running several affairs along with them.
