AP Liquor Scam: ₹11 Crore Cash Seized from Shamshabad Farmhouse

A key development has taken place in connection with the Andhra Pradesh liquor scam that occurred during Jagan’s regime. It is well known that when Jagan was the Chief Minister, only cash transactions were allowed for liquor sales—no other modes of transaction were permitted. Now, the reason for insisting on cash has come to light. In connection with this liquor scam, Andhra Pradesh SIT officials have seized cardboard boxes containing ₹11 crore in cash. This money came to light during searches recently conducted in Hyderabad. It is reported that this crucial information was provided by Purushottam, who is accused number 40 in this case. Acting on the directions of Raj Kesireddy, who is widely believed to be the kingpin of this scam, the cash was packed in 12 boxes and hidden in the Sulochana Farm Guest House located in Shamshabad Mandal of Ranga Reddy district. The raids were conducted based on Purushottam’s statement.

It is said that in June 2024, following the instructions of both Raj Kesireddy and Chanakya, the cash was shifted to the farmhouse. The money was stored in boxes under the label of “office files.” As is known, the AP liquor scam has been causing a major uproar in the state’s political circles, and recently, YSRCP MP Mithun Reddy was arrested in connection with the same. At a time when the SIT has submitted its findings to the primary court and is preparing to file the final charge sheet, the discovery of ₹11 crore in cash bundles at a farmhouse has become a significant development. There has been widespread speculation within YSRCP circles that the liquor scam proceeds were stored in large boxes and transported wherever needed. Now, one such stash has been found. It remains to be seen whether more such stashes will be uncovered in the coming days or whether they’ve already been moved elsewhere. Even after the scam came to light so long ago, the question of why such a large amount of cash—₹11 crore—was still kept there has now become an intriguing development.
