Congress Sweeps Telangana By-Polls, Big Shock for KTR
X

After the Congress party came to power in Telangana, it won both the by-elections that took place. Both these seats originally belonged to the opposition BRS. Although it is somewhat natural for the ruling parties to win by-elections, in the current situation of the state, this has become very crucial for the Congress party. On one side, the opposition BRS campaigned strongly saying that along with HYDRA, Congress is not implementing its promises… that problems in the state are arising only because of the Congress government… but all that campaigning did not help much. Especially, this election turned into a big challenge for BRS working president KTR… but the result came as a shock to him. For Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, however, this can be considered a big relief. If the issue of disqualification of defected MLAs gets resolved, the result of the Jubilee Hills by-election will act as a boost for the upcoming by-elections as well as the local body elections.

Regarding the Jubilee Hills by-election, with the selection of the candidate and the support secured from MIM, Congress’ victory became almost certain. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also campaigned on a large scale for a by-election in a way no one had done before, and managed to achieve a good result. At the same time, the ministers who were assigned responsibilities for this constituency also played their part. On the other hand, in the Jubilee Hills by-election, most people predicted that Congress candidate Naveen Yadav would win with a majority of ten thousand votes. But surpassing those expectations, he won with a huge majority of 24,729 votes over BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha.

This should be said as a development that brings new political enthusiasm to Congress. BRS, which behaved as though they would win the elections whenever they were held, citing that large-scale public discontent had grown against the Revanth Reddy government, faced a bitter result. On the other hand, even the attempts to at least reduce the majority of the Congress candidate did not succeed. This is definitely a strong shock to BRS… and especially to the party’s working president KTR, who carried the responsibilities of this election.
