Revanth Reddy in Reverse Gear? Silence on Harish Rao Probe Sparks Row!

The conduct of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy during the Telangana Assembly budget sessions has now triggered a major stir within the Congress party. In particular, the statements he made on the Assembly floor have raised several doubts among the public. At the same time, there is growing criticism that his remarks may have also dented the government’s image. Even some ministers have reportedly expressed dissatisfaction over the way the Chief Minister responded in the Assembly. During the session, Revanth Reddy alleged that the family of T. Harish Rao had illegally transferred hundreds of acres of land in Mahabubnagar district by misusing the Dharani portal. He claimed that there was documentary evidence to support these allegations. However, he added that a House Committee would be formed to investigate the issue only if Harish Rao agreed to it.
Despite asserting that there was solid evidence regarding the illegal land transfers, the Chief Minister appears to have completely dropped the idea of setting up a House Committee. This has become a key point of debate. Another important aspect is that several Congress MLAs, along with leaders who were elected on BRS tickets but later joined Congress, have demanded the تشكيل of a House Committee to probe the issue. Yet, the Chief Minister’s silence on the matter is raising further suspicions. A minister even remarked that this is harming the government’s credibility.
Congress leaders themselves were reportedly surprised by the Chief Minister’s statement that a probe would depend on Harish Rao’s consent, despite claiming to have evidence. Responding outside the Assembly, Harish Rao said he was ready for an inquiry into the allegations against his family. He also challenged the Chief Minister, asking whether he would agree to an investigation into allegations against his own brother and brother-in-law. Regardless of the reasons, the Chief Minister’s failure to follow up on his Assembly announcement about forming a House Committee has only strengthened these doubts.
Moreover, critics point out that no concrete action has been taken so far on any of the alleged scams that took place during the BRS regime. Congress leaders claim that behind-the-scenes factors are the main reason for this inaction. Earlier, when the BRS protested in the Assembly over alleged illegal mining linked to Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, the government had announced a CBCID probe into not just the minister’s company but also illegal mining and sand irregularities during the BRS rule. However, the government remained silent on the issue for a long time, and only ordered an inquiry after allegations against the minister’s company surfaced—raising further questions and suspicions.
