Senior NCP (SP) leader Sharad Pawar made key remarks on the incident in which Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash. At a time when political criticism is being voiced over the accident, he attempted to put a check on it. It is known that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had expressed suspicions over the crash involving the aircraft in which Ajit Pawar was traveling. She demanded that an inquiry be conducted under the leadership of a Supreme Court judge. She said that she would trust only such an inquiry and that she does not believe the remaining systems would conduct a proper investigation. She stated that several doubts are being raised about the accident occurring at a time when Ajit Pawar was contemplating coming out of the alliance.

At this juncture, Sharad Pawar made emotional and important remarks before the media. He said there was no conspiracy involved and that it was only an accident. “There is no conspiracy in this. This is purely an accident. Ajit Pawar’s death is an irreparable loss to Maharashtra. A capable leader has left us today. Maharashtra has lost a great person. His absence can never be filled,” Sharad Pawar said. At the same time, he expressed anguish, saying that nothing is in our hands and that he is helpless and unable to do anything. He said that Ajit’s death is an irreparable loss not only to them but to the people of Maharashtra as well. “Please do not drag politics into this incident… that is all I want to say,” Pawar appealed.

Meanwhile, VSR Aviation chairman V. K. Singh told the media that the special flight in which the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister traveled was completely fit and that there were no issues with it. He said the aircraft was not grounded because it was perfectly fit, and questioned why an aircraft with no problems would be grounded. At the same time, he stated that the pilots who flew the aircraft were also highly experienced. However, it is being suspected that very low visibility at the time of landing near Baramati could be the cause of the accident. He said the pilots faced difficulty in identifying the runway, and that this was the reason for the accident, according to Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu. He also stated that a full and transparent investigation would be conducted into the incident. On Wednesday morning, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, along with two pilots and the minister’s personal staff, died tragically while traveling from Mumbai to Baramati. Ajit Pawar, aged 66, was very active in politics. He was elected once as an MP and seven times as an MLA from the Baramati Assembly constituency.
