Raja Singh Quits BJP Over State Chief Appointment Row
The election process for the state president post has created a stir within the Telangana BJP. However, as is known, the BJP high command selected former MLC Ramchander Rao for the position. Reacting strongly to this decision, Goshamahal MLA Raja Singh has resigned from the party. He submitted his resignation letter to Union Minister Kishan Reddy, who is currently serving as the BJP state president. Raja Singh made sensational allegations, stating that when he decided to file his nomination for the state president post and went to submit his application, party leaders threatened him and stopped him from signing it. He told the media that since he has resigned from the party, he has requested the Assembly Speaker to disqualify him as an MLA.
He said he has been facing several problems since 2014. He recalled that he worked for the party and ended up on a terrorist hit list. He made shocking comments saying that some senior leaders within the party do not want BJP to come to power in Telangana. He made it clear that he can no longer continue in the BJP. He also alleged that some people threatened his followers saying they would be suspended from the party if they supported him. Raja Singh said he even checked for an auspicious time to file his nomination for the BJP president post. Addressing the BJP top leadership, he made a sharp remark saying, “Salutations to you, and salutations to your party.” MP Etela Rajender, who was expected to be appointed as the BJP state president, has not responded anywhere on the matter. Party circles are abuzz that Ramchander Rao got the post on the recommendation of Union Minister Kishan Reddy.
