Sai Prasad Named Next AP Chief Secretary

Sai Prasad Named Next AP Chief Secretary
X

Andhra Pradesh Special Chief Secretary of the Water Resources Department, G. Sai Prasad, is going to become the next Chief Secretary (CS) of the state. This will come into effect from March 1, 2026. On the other hand, the government has issued orders extending the tenure of the current CS, Vijayanand, by three months — from December 1 to February 28. As soon as his tenure ends, the next CS, Sai Prasad, will assume responsibilities. Normally, in a GO extending the tenure of a CS, orders appointing another CS are not issued. But since there were chances of speculation that Vijayanand might get another extension… and with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu already facing criticism for going back on earlier assurances, it is being discussed in official circles that he issued both orders to put a check on all such talk. It is known that, in the past too, Chandrababu Naidu had issued a similar GO regarding CS appointments.

After the state bifurcation, Ajay Kallam was appointed as CS and, in the same GO, Dinesh Kumar was designated as the next CS. Now, in the orders issued, it is mentioned that after Vijayanand’s extension ends, Sai Prasad will take over as CS. Both these records belong to Chandrababu. It is believed in official circles that this was done mainly to instill confidence in Sai Prasad. Because after Vijayanand received the three-month extension, there were reports within government circles that he was somewhat dissatisfied. Taking all these aspects into consideration, this decision appears to have been made.
