Karthi’s Action-Packed Sequel Sardar 2 Movie Review:
Karthi’s films have a good market in Telugu, and he also enjoys a strong fan following in the Telugu-speaking states. Karthi’s Sardar hit the screens on October 21, 2022. The film focused on the bottled drinking water business in the country and presented the subject in an interesting way. Now, four years later, its sequel, Sardar 2, has arrived in theatres. In the first part of Sardar, director P. S. Mithran explored the bottled water business and highlighted the problems caused by the excessive use of plastic bottles for drinking water. The film delivered a good result at the box office, which raised expectations for Sardar 2 as well. However, in the second part, the director has focused on the problems caused by the widespread use of antibiotics and has woven the story around biological warfare.
Compared to the first part, Sardar 2 fails to engage the audience to the same extent. When it comes to Karthi’s action, there is absolutely no compromise, and he does complete justice to his role. He also delivers a good performance in the emotional scenes. In a nutshell, Sardar 2 is a one-man show by Karthi. After Karthi, the most powerful role in the movie belongs to S. J. Suryah, who appears as Black Dagger. The roles played by the female leads, Malavika Mohanan and Ashika Ranganath, do not have much importance in the story. Karthi and Malavika Mohanan appear as RAW agents in the film. The entire story revolves around a biological weapon called Doku.
On one side is the villain, Black Dagger, who wants to acquire the weapon and destroy the country. On the other side is the RAW team, which is determined to neutralize it at any cost without allowing it to fall into enemy hands. The film progresses mainly through the situations and confrontations that arise between these two sides. In this spy-action sequel, audiences may feel that the energy and excitement seen in the first part are missing. In the second half, some scenes between S. J. Suryah and Yogi Babu manage to make the audience laugh. Apart from those portions, the film feels slow as it moves forward. There are a few action sequences here and there that are impressive. Overall, Sardar 2 fails to live up to the expectations created among the audience.
