Akhanda 2 and OG to Clash at Box Office This Dussehra
Another big fight is set to unfold at the box office in Tollywood. Usually, during the Sankranti season, not only big hero films but also mid-range and small hero movies try their luck. A similar atmosphere seems likely for the 2025 Dussehra season as well. This time, at the box office, the movie of senior hero Nandamuri Balakrishna is set to clash with that of Jana Sena chief and Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. The successful combination of Nandamuri Balakrishna and Boyapati is coming up with the movie Akhanda 2: Tandavam, which was announced a few months ago for release on September 25. With the recently released teaser of Akhanda 2, expectations on this movie have grown significantly. Since Dussehra falls on October 2, it appears that this date has been strategically fixed to target the festive holiday season. The shooting of Pawan Kalyan’s film OG was recently completed, and it has also been announced for release on September 25. It is already known that Pawan Kalyan’s movie Hari Hara Veera Mallu is releasing on July 24. Soon after that, in September, he is set to come before audiences again with OG.
Trade circles in Tollywood say there is strong demand for OG from a business standpoint as well. OG, directed by Sujeeth, is produced by big-budget film producer DVV Danayya. With two major hero films clashing at the box office this Dussehra, it looks like another round of fan wars is brewing in Tollywood. Given the current situation, sources say that neither of the two films is likely to back off. Sometimes, even if a clash is unavoidable, filmmakers may leave at least a one-day gap for opening collections. But in the case of Akhanda 2: Tandavam and OG, nothing of that sort is happening — both films are set to release on the same day. So, this Dussehra, it remains to be seen who will smash records and dominate the box office. After a long gap, Pawan Kalyan’s films are being released consecutively. On the other hand, Balakrishna continues to do films without taking any gap.
