Tollywood superstar Mahesh Babu is going to appear in a mythological role for the first time. And that too in the Varanasi movie being directed by sensational filmmaker Rajamouli. With this, expectations on the film have suddenly increased even more. Mahesh Babu is going to appear in the role of Lord Rama in this film. On Saturday, at an event held at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, the Varanasi movie title announcement along with the movie glimpses were released. The movie, which had been referred to all this while with the working title “Globe Trotter,” has officially been titled “Varanasi” as promoted. This big-budget film is being produced by prominent producer K. L. Narayana under the Durga Arts banner. It was also clarified that the movie will be released in the summer of 2027. Director Rajamouli, Mahesh Babu, heroine Priyanka Chopra, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and others participated in the event held in Hyderabad.

Speaking at the event, Mahesh Babu said… “My father always used to ask me to act in a mythological role. I never listened to him. Now he listens to me. His blessings will always be with me,” he said. Mahesh stated that Varanasi is his dream project and that he will work as hard as needed for this film. “I will make everyone proud—especially Rajamouli. After the release of Varanasi, the entire nation will feel proud. This is just the title announcement… I will leave the rest to your imagination,” he said. “And what should I say to my fans? I know only one thing—I can only fold my hands and bow to them. I don’t know anything else. I always need the support of my fans,” he added. The visuals in the glimpses showing Mahesh Babu in the role of Lord Rama have gone viral. Rajamouli revealed that Mahesh Babu acted brilliantly in the role of Rama, and that he once kept a photo of Mahesh as his phone wallpaper but removed it fearing the look might leak. He said Mahesh Babu never uses his phone during shooting… even if it’s six or seven hours, he remains the same. In this regard, Rajamouli said he learns from watching Mahesh Babu.
