Thammudu Fails to Impress, Questions Rise on Dil Raju’s Judgement

Thammudu Fails to Impress, Questions Rise on Dil Raju’s Judgement
X

Dil Raju is one of the top producers in Tollywood. At one time, most of the films released under his banner were hits. There were a few failures too. However, in recent times, it seems Dil Raju has moved from a streak of hits to a streak of controversies and flops — that’s what the talk suggests. Once again, it has been proven that a film succeeds only if it has strong content, not just based on the producer’s name. Game Changer already indicated this to Dil Raju. Now, the film Thammudu has reiterated the same point. It was the story and comedy of Vasthunnaam Sankranthiki that saved Dil Raju from sinking deep into debt. For the promotions of Thammudu, Dil Raju recently gave a series of interviews. This time, his brother Sirish also stepped in and spoke about Ram Charan and director Shankar in interviews. Sirish had to issue an apology — not just through a letter but also via video — after receiving strong warnings from Ram Charan fans over his comments about the actor.

Both Dil Raju and Sirish tried hard to elevate Thammudu to a certain level. They stated that the full credit for the film goes to director Venu Sriram. But after its release, the film failed to receive the expected response from the audience. Even in both Telugu states, the openings didn’t create any buzz. On Saturday, the first day of the weekend, even the evening shows weren’t full — which makes it clear what the result of this movie is. Though Dil Raju made many efforts to build hype for Thammudu, it didn’t really work out. As a result, there is growing talk that Dil Raju's judgment has been missing the mark in recent times. On several occasions, Dil Raju himself said in media interviews that once a movie is complete, one viewing is enough to tell whether it will work or not. But looking at the outcomes of his recent films, even Tollywood circles are commenting that his calculations are going wrong.
