‘Sampradayini Suppini Suddapoosani’ Review: Shivaji’s Crime Thriller

For some time now, hero Shivaji has been moving forward by doing films with different stories. Now he has come before the audience with a unique title, “Sampradayini Suppini Suddapoosani.” Though the film released for the audience on Friday, premiere shows were screened in selected theatres in Hyderabad. It can be said that for Shivaji as well as Laya, who played the heroine in the film, this is the first time doing such roles. Though the title sounds like a comedy, the film is actually a crime–suspense thriller. Coming to the movie story, the entire story revolves around a family consisting of Shivaji, Laya, and Rohan. Shivaji works as a Panchayat Secretary and is honest. But his wife keeps pressuring him in various ways to earn money and buy jewellery. Their son Rohan, however, behaves in a very violent manner, attacking everyone and making reels. Shivaji finds it very difficult to tolerate the chaos created by his wife Laya and son Rohan.
One day, unexpectedly, Shivaji’s son Rohan takes a gun from an SI who had come to their house and fires it just to see. As a result, the SI dies on the spot. To save his son, Shivaji decides that he himself will go to jail. However, Laya does not agree to this and says that somehow they should take the SI’s body out without anyone knowing and dispose of it. The entire movie revolves around this murder. The twist that comes in the climax related to this murder stands out as the highlight of the whole movie. In this suspense thriller, both Shivaji and Laya impress with their performances. However, Rohan’s role gives the feeling of being a bit too exaggerated. As soon as the movie begins, the opening scenes remind one of Rajeev Kanakala’s role in the movie “Janatha Garage.” Before one wonders why it is like that, the story gradually moves into the main plot. After that, it picks up speed.
The car journey carrying the SI’s body feels a bit too stretched for the audience. However, the required suspense and twists in it are engaging. The film is carried forward according to the story, and there was no attempt to insert songs or comedy anywhere. In this movie, Prince, Dhanraj, Ali, and Rath Lohithaswa appear in other key roles. In fact, this movie was originally made for OTT, but the plan was changed and it was released theatrically. Overall, “Sampradayini Suppini Suddapoosani” is a film that suspense and thriller lovers may like.
