Trump’s Remarks on Indian IT Workers Spark Shock and Debate

Update: 2025-07-24 15:50 GMT

U.S. President Donald Trump is behaving worse than a regional party leader. The decisions he has been taking and the statements he has been making since coming to power for the second time have stunned the world. Not only that, they have also shocked Americans. Particularly, his statements regarding tariffs have unsettled global markets. His latest announcement regarding IT jobs has shocked not only the top IT companies in America but also Indian IT professionals. Many Indians serve as CEOs in several top IT companies and other sectors in the U.S., and they are successfully leading these organizations forward. It is well known that whether it's a company or a country, they choose human resources based on benefit—not based on region. Especially over the past few decades, Indians have played a crucial role in the growth of the U.S. IT sector. Compared to Americans, Indians work harder and are paid significantly less than local employees. Companies move forward with such financial calculations. On the other hand, Americans generally work strictly according to schedule and show little interest in taking on extra tasks. In contrast, Indian professionals and others from abroad show great dedication to the companies they work for, according to an IT expert.

While these are the realities, Trump’s recent announcement has caused considerable concern among IT professionals. He criticized some top U.S. IT companies for enjoying liberal benefits in America while setting up operations in China. He alleged that these companies hire Indian employees, route their profits through Ireland to show reduced profits, and enjoy complete freedom—while neglecting and disregarding the needs of local citizens. Trump warned that such days are over under his leadership. Trump appears to be specifically targeting Microsoft and Google with these comments. He made these remarks in a speech directed at several American tech companies during an AI summit held in Washington. Declaring that those days are over during his term, Trump emphasized that "patriotism is essential to win the race in Artificial Intelligence." He urged tech companies to place America at the forefront in the AI space. Trump suggested that a new sense of patriotism and national loyalty is needed both inside and outside Silicon Valley to achieve success in the AI race.
