Trump Sets 10-Day Deadline for Iran Amid Rising Tensions

Update: 2026-03-27 04:41 GMT

Global uncertainty over war is unlikely to ease anytime soon. It is already known that the United States has announced a pause in its joint strikes on Iran along with Israel. However, Israel continues its attacks, while Iran is responding with counterattacks as usual. Meanwhile, Iranian leaders appear to be dismissing statements made by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding peace talks. Earlier, Trump had warned that if Iran failed to comply, its power plants would be destroyed. In response, Iran issued a strong warning that if such an attack took place, it would target desalination plants and oil reserves in Gulf countries. It is believed that this warning led to the U.S. stepping back. Recently, Trump announced a fresh 10-day deadline for Iran. He stated that attacks on Iran’s power infrastructure have been postponed until April 6. However, Iran continues to reject Trump’s claims about ongoing negotiations.

Iran has reportedly sent some proposals through its allied nations, but at the same time clarified that they are not acceptable. Iran has also placed several demands before the United States. If the U.S., Israel, and Iran reach an agreement within this newly announced deadline, it would bring significant relief to the world. Trump’s latest statements suggest that, amid rising tensions in West Asia, he is moving forward with a diplomatic strategy. With growing opposition to military action against Iran, there is also a view that Trump is now focused on bringing the conflict to an end. Trump revealed that Iran, through its representatives, has requested more time to halt the attacks. “They politely asked me for seven days, but I gave them ten days,” Trump said.

He also mentioned that Iran has shown a positive response to negotiations by allowing eight previously halted oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Respecting this move, the additional time was granted. Trump stated on his platform, Truth Social, that the ongoing talks with Iran are progressing very well and are productive. He urged the public not to believe misleading reports spread by certain sections of the media. However, he warned that if Iran does not fully agree to peace talks within this timeframe, he would “flatten” their largest power plants.
