Whatever the reasons may be, time seems to be favouring Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. When the high command in Delhi is strong, it never allows Chief Ministers to sit comfortably in their chairs. They keep creating some problem or the other. Many such incidents happened in the past. As is known, in the recently held Jubilee Hills by-election, the Congress registered a grand victory. This has given new energy not only to CM Revanth Reddy but also to his team. On the other hand, the Congress alliance suffered a terrible defeat in Bihar. In Karnataka, there are quarrels going on over the CM’s post. After staying away from power at the Centre for three terms, the situation of the Congress has now become even more dire. Unless the party rewrites its entire political strategy, it does not appear to be getting back on track. At this juncture, discussions are going on that, with the fear that if Telangana CM Revanth Reddy becomes stronger administratively and financially, it would pose a danger to their own existence, some ministers in his cabinet are leaking key information to the media in an attempt to tarnish the government.
Especially, the Hyderabad Industrial Land Transformation (HILT) policy recently brought to the forefront by the Telangana government has been causing a stir in Telangana politics over the past few days. Congress circles revealed that a senior minister from Nalgonda district secretly leaked all these matters to the media with the intention that if everything goes as planned, it would become difficult in the coming days to control Revanth Reddy. There were media reports that CM Revanth Reddy also expressed anger in the recently held cabinet meeting over crucial information leaking to the media both before and after the cabinet meeting. It is said that an inquiry is also underway into the issue. Reliable sources revealed that some leaders have already complained to Delhi that the senior minister leaked key information to trouble the government.
On the other hand, it is said that other ministers have also sent a report to Delhi explaining CM Revanth Reddy’s aggressive decisions and the financial agenda behind HILT. A senior minister commented that the cabinet is supposed to function collectively, but mutual distrust within Revanth Reddy’s cabinet is now at a very serious level — indicating how bad the situation has become. As those within the government itself are providing weapons to the media and opposition parties, both BRS and BJP are alleging that a big scam is hidden behind HILT. Now the Congress government is being forced to repeatedly give explanations on the matter. It remains to be seen whether the HILT policy will create more tremors in the coming days or whether everyone will settle the disputes that have arisen. A senior minister observed that CM Revanth Reddy is now facing more troubles from the ministers within his own cabinet than from the opposition outside.
