The US, along with Israel, carried out large-scale joint strikes on Iran. A massive bombardment targeted Kharg Island, one of Iran’s most crucial economic hubs. The island, which accounts for nearly 90% of Iran’s fuel exports, has reportedly been completely devastated. With its destruction, analysts believe Iran is likely to suffer severe economic losses in the coming days. Even before these strikes, Israel had launched air raids destroying several airbases across Iran. In addition to Kharg Island, the US and Israel also targeted multiple railway networks within the country, forcing the suspension of train services in many regions.
Earlier, Donald Trump had warned that if Iran failed to reach an agreement, he would “push the country back to the Stone Age.” Now, the US appears to be acting on that threat by attacking key infrastructure across Iran. Ahead of these attacks, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian made strong and emotional remarks. In a post on X, he stated that the people of Iran are ready to sacrifice their lives to defend the nation. He also said that he himself is prepared to lay down his life for the country. According to him, more than 14 million Iranians have already expressed their willingness to make the ultimate sacrifice to protect Iran.
It is known that Trump had been repeatedly warning that if Iran failed to keep the Strait of Hormuz open, key infrastructure such as bridges and power plants in Iran would be destroyed. In response to the threat of US attacks, Iran’s Minister for Sports and Youth, Ali Reza Rahimi, called upon young people—including athletes and students—to gather voluntarily at power plants and form human chains to protect them. In a video message, he urged the youth to take part in this initiative called “Human Chain” to safeguard the nation’s future. Following the latest attacks by the US and Israel, Iran issued a strong warning, stating that if the United States crosses its “red line,” it will have to pay a heavy price.
