A major political development is reportedly taking shape in Kadapa district, with another member of the Y. S. family set to enter active politics. Highly reliable sources indicate that Harsha Reddy, the elder daughter of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, is likely to make her political debut. Sources further suggest that she may contest the Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency in the 2029 elections on a YSRCP ticket. The Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency has remained a strong political bastion of the Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy family for several decades. Jagan Mohan Reddy himself had earlier represented Kadapa as a Lok Sabha member. The constituency is currently represented by Y. S. Avinash Reddy. According to sources, the decision to allot the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat to Harsha Reddy has already been taken. Jagan Mohan Reddy is reportedly making preparations to pave the way for his daughter’s entry into electoral politics.

YSRCP sources also claim that Jagan Mohan Reddy has begun assigning business responsibilities to his two daughters as part of a broader transition of responsibilities. Harsha Reddy is reportedly overseeing the affairs of Sakshi Media, according to party leaders. Harsha Reddy completed her master’s degree at the prestigious INSEAD Business School in Paris. Her entry into electoral politics would mark a significant development for the Y. S. family and the YSRCP, particularly given the political importance of the Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency. Meanwhile, there is still uncertainty over the political future of the incumbent Kadapa MP, Y. S. Avinash Reddy, if Harsha Reddy is fielded from the constituency. It remains to be seen whether the YSRCP leadership will consider giving Avinash Reddy another Lok Sabha seat or field him in an Assembly constituency. A clear decision on Avinash Reddy’s future constituency is yet to emerge, sources said.
