Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif revealed that Qatar played a crucial role in facilitating the peace agreement. He also thanked all the countries that contributed to making the deal possible.
Following the agreement, President Donald Trump announced that the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened immediately without any tariffs or restrictions. He further stated that he had ordered the military to lift the blockade on Iranian ports. Trump also announced the withdrawal of the U.S. naval blockade and enthusiastically urged shipping companies to "start the engines and move the oil." Iran also responded positively to these developments, confirming that it had reached an understanding with the United States aimed at ending the conflict. Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated that the agreement was intended to bring the war to an end. He announced that the formal signing ceremony would take place in Switzerland on June 19.
At the same time, Gharibabadi cautioned that reaching a deal does not mean Iran has begun trusting its adversaries. He said Tehran would closely monitor whether Washington honors its commitments. As part of the agreement, military operations in Lebanon and other regions are expected to cease. Iran clarified that it would enter the proposed 60-day negotiation period for a final agreement only after verifying on the ground that Washington has fulfilled all of its commitments. Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi provided these details. Speaking to Iran's state-affiliated Press TV, Gharibabadi said the official signing ceremony would be held in Switzerland on Friday, June 19, after which the complete text of the agreement would be made public.
He emphasized that the agreement was not achieved solely through diplomacy. According to him, Iran's military successes and the sacrifices of its martyrs forced its adversaries to come to terms. One key aspect of the agreement is that there has been no mention so far of the issue of enriched uranium, a subject repeatedly highlighted by President Trump in recent months. The agreement is expected to provide significant relief, particularly to Gulf nations. Whenever the United States launched strikes against Iran in the past, Tehran often retaliated by targeting American military bases located in Gulf countries.
