BRS Turmoil: Kavitha Triggers Storm with Corruption Charges on Harish Rao

In the BRS, if there is any chance of a political challenge to the party’s working president and former minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), it can only come from Harish Rao. The reason is that Harish Rao has recognition not only within the party but across Telangana. Especially at the grassroots level, Harish Rao has earned a name as a leader. In several districts, he is a leader well acquainted with everyone. Though it is not clear what happened behind the scenes, just a few months ago Harish Rao stated in a media meeting that if leadership were handed over to KTR, he would welcome it and extend his cooperation. This is the same Harish Rao who earlier had said that as long as KCR was there, no leadership issue would ever arise. But within a few days, he suddenly announced that if leadership was given to KTR, he would cooperate. It is well known that for some time now, Kavitha has been creating a stir in BRS. Initially, she targeted KTR, criticizing him by saying politics is not just about putting out a few tweets on Twitter, but about fighting on the ground. But suddenly she has now shifted her entire focus towards Harish Rao and Santosh Rao. With this, discussions are taking place that she is making KTR’s path clearer within BRS.

                                           Everyone in BRS knows that the next reins will go into KTR’s hands. But since Harish Rao is a powerful leader in the party, there is now talk that Kavitha’s recent remarks are aimed at striking him from all sides, so much so that even within the party, everyone looks at Harish Rao with suspicion. In reality, more than 90 percent of the points Kavitha made in her Wednesday media meeting are things that have long been widely circulated in political and media circles. Observing all this, even BRS leaders themselves are expressing doubts that everything is happening according to a plan. With Kavitha being suspended from the BRS party, she has also resigned from her MLC post and from the party’s primary membership. This has left KTR without any direct competition from within the family. Now, the only person left is Harish Rao. As a result, according to BRS leaders, an agenda is being pushed to label Harish Rao alone as a terrible corrupt leader and a political conspirator, with attempts underway to damage him.

                                            In Wednesday’s press conference, Kavitha questioned whether Telangana would turn into a “Golden Telangana” if gold is stored in the houses of Harish Rao and Santosh Rao. Now, counter-questions are being raised at her—whether there is no gold in the houses of Kavitha, KCR, or KTR. A wide debate on this is now taking place on social media. On the other hand, a BRS leader raised doubts, asking whether Kavitha is unaware of the large-scale real estate dealings, government lands, and disputed lands handed over to real estate companies during BRS’s ten years in power, especially in Hyderabad. Similarly, questions are surfacing about who owns the hundreds of thousands of square feet of land in Hyderabad’s IT corridor that are under benami names, and whether Kavitha has no knowledge of this. Another key point here is that BRS leaders are all saying that behind Kavitha’s remarks stands CM Revanth Reddy, or perhaps someone else. But notably, no one has strongly condemned the corruption allegations Kavitha made against Harish Rao and Santosh Rao on Wednesday. This is also raising several doubts about the entire affair.
