Washington has reportedly demanded that Iran publicly declare within 24 hours that the Strait of Hormuz will remain fully open to international shipping and that no further attacks will be carried out on commercial vessels. Reports also indicate that the United States has warned of severe military and economic measures if Iran fails to do so.
